Where to Learn About Tea in Taiwan
Tea knowledge in Taiwan tends to live closest to where the tea actually grows — in small mountain townships, with the farming families who've worked the same land for generations. Meishan, in Chiayi, is one of those places: one of the original tea-growing townships in the greater Alishan region since the 1970s, and still home to working tea gardens today.

Our family has run a traditional tea house here for decades, and we offer the full experience in English — a guided, hands-on tasting through the real range of Taiwanese tea, including competition-grade teas that rarely make it outside local circles. Along the way, you'll learn how tea farmers and judges actually evaluate a leaf — the same criteria used to score competition tea — so you leave not just having tasted good tea, but knowing how to recognize it yourself. Tea snacks are included, every question gets a proper answer from someone who actually knows the craft, and it's all at your own pace, by appointment.

It's about 40–60 minutes by car from Chiayi HSR station, and 30–40 minutes by car from Chiayi Train Station (Chiayi TRA).
